The area of the district is 678 square kilometers (262 sq mi).
[9] Kurchatovsky District is located in the west central region of Kursk Oblast.
The terrain is hilly plain on the Orel-Kursk plateau of the Central Russian Upland.
It was also part of the 1939-1941 Katyn Forest Abductions and also of the Massacres of Poles and Jews - all of them Males - on and from streets- some of them were Loyal Communists supporting the USSR.
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Kurchatovsky District is one of the twenty-eight in the oblast.
