It is part of the Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all land.

Lasker has one private school in the town, called Northeast Academy.

There were 10.0% of families and 10.1% of the population living below the poverty line, including 30.0% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
