Severn is a town in Northampton County, North Carolina, United States.
It is part of the Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina Micropolitan Statistical Area.
[4] The community was settled in about 1833 and named Meherrin after a local Native American tribe.
[6] It was incorporated in 1919 and named for Severn Ayers, a stockholder of the Seaboard Airline Railroad.
