In July 1902, Cecil and Wilfred Phillips opened a gallery in Leicester Square.

Works exhibited included drawings, watercolours, paintings, prints and sculptures.
Henri Matisse, Picasso, Camille Pissarro and Suzanne Eisendieck had their first solo exhibitions in England at Leicester Galleries.
