Lisa Jewell (born 19 July 1968) is a British author of popular fiction.

[2] Her latest book, Breaking the Dark, was published in July 2024 and inaugurated the Marvel Crime Novel series.

After one day in the sixth form, she left school to do an art foundation course at Barnet College followed by a diploma in fashion illustration at Epsom School of Art & Design.

She worked in fashion retail for several years, particularly at Warehouse and Thomas Pink.

[4] After being made redundant, Jewell accepted her friend Yasmin Boland's challenge, to write three chapters of a novel in exchange for dinner at her favourite restaurant.
