Following elections to the Telangana Legislative Assembly, the state's governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government.
[1] Since the state's creation on 2 June 2014,[2] Telangana has had two chief ministers, the first of which belongs to Bharat Rashtra Samithi party, its founder and former Minister of Labour and Employment of the Republic of India K. Chandrashekar Rao was the inaugural holder of the office who sworn in two times by winning the 2014 and 2018 assembly elections consecutively.
The current chief minister is Revanth Reddy of the Indian National Congress since 7 December 2023.
[3] Hyderabad would remain as the joint capital of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for a period.
[4] Andhra Pradesh picked Amaravati as its capital and relocated its secretariat in 2016 and its legislature in 2017.
