This page documents all the known tornadoes that touched down in the United States during 1946.
Tornadoes which occurred in the United States prior to 1950 are not officially rated.
Tornado expert Thomas P. Grazulis rated significant tornadoes, those rated F2 or higher on the Fujita scale, and the ratings are accepted and acknowledged by the National Weather Service.
However, since the National Weather Service did not rate the tornadoes, the ratings are considered unofficial.
According to Grazulis the "losses included dozens of homes and thousands of trees.
