Lord John Hervey (15 November 1841 – 25 February 1902, Bungay) was an English aristocrat who became active in local politics in Suffolk and contributed to scholarly life of that county.
[2] He was friends with William Brampton Gurdon, who described Hervey's popularity as "wonderful" at both institutions in a later obituary.

They visited Askatos but went to a more remote area in search of animals to shoot.
They returned with the support of HMS Chanticleer which remained out of sight while the release of Mr Coore was negotiated.
