Manton is a former pit village and suburb of south-east Worksop in north Nottinghamshire, England.
The model village was constructed soon afterwards to accommodate the families of miners who came from many parts of the country to secure employment.
[1] Manton was separate from Worksop but became contiguous to the town when the council estates were built in the 1950s and 1960s.
[3] David Peace's novel GB84 refers to Manton, but mistakenly locates it in South Yorkshire.
