Maria Linibi is the founder and president of the Papua New Guinea Women in Agriculture Development Foundation.
They introduced the African yam to the area and promoted the farming of peanuts, rice, sweet potatoes and other crops.
Today, the organization is active throughout the country and Linibi is a recognised spokesperson for PNG's women farmers.
Training is offered in basic bookkeeping, in part to enable farmers to approach financial institutions for loans.
[1][2][3] Linibi is an active member of the Pacific Island Farmers Organisation Network (PIFON) and represented Pacific Island farmers at the United Nations in New York City in September 2015, when the Sustainable Development Goals were approved by the General Assembly.
