Mariano Rubio (14 November 1931–4 October 1999) was a Spanish economist who served as the governor of Bank of Spain in the period 1984–1992.
[1] Following his release from the prison Rubio left Spain for Paris where he worked at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
[5] Rubio had to resign from the office in July 1992 due to his involvement in a scandal known as Ibercorp case[4][6] and was replaced by Luis Angel Rojo in the post.
[4] Rubio was accused of employing some confidential information to gain dividends in the stock market[5] and of falsifying official documents.
[7] During his tenure as governor of the bank Spanish credit market was radically transformed and became much more liberal than the previous periods.
