Marie Fisher

Following her father's abandonment of their family Marie spent time in various orphanages.

Fisher's interest in politics and social justice was sparked by her membership of the Eureka Youth League and her relationship with Edna Ryan, a feminist and trade unionist, who was a friend of her mother.

[1] In 1957 she began teaching English and history at Bourke High School.

In 1978, Fisher was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council as a Labor member.
