Marlin Independent School District

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.

[5] Marlin ISD received an "academically unacceptable" rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in 2011.

[6] In September 2015 the TEA sent a letter stating that it planned to revoke the accreditation as of July 1, 2016, which would lead to the closure of the district.

[7] Stephanie Butts of the Waco Tribune-Herald wrote that the announcement caught Marlin ISD officials "off guard".
