Mecistocephalus modestus is a species of centipede in the Mecistocephalidae family.
It was described in 1919 by the Italian myriapodologist Filippo Silvestri.
[1][2] This species has 49 pairs of legs and can reach 35 mm in length.
[3] The species occurs in New Guinea and Southeast Asia.
The type locality is Sattelberg, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
