Mesomeric betaine

Mesomeric betaines are dipolar heterocyclic compounds in which both the negative and the positive charges are delocalized.

[1] Examples are mesoionic compounds and heteropentalenes (e.g. diazapentalenes).

Heteropentalenes are not mesoionic.
