Midway Congregational Church

[1] Located beside U.S. Route 17 in Midway, Georgia, the church and its adjacent cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

[2] Annually in April, the Midway Society holds a service at the church, commemorating the town's 1752 settlement.

[2] The original, colonial-style 1756 church[3] was destroyed by the British during the Revolutionary War.

[2] Among the notable burials in the church's cemetery are Daniel Stewart and James Screven, generals in the Revolutionary War, and senator John Elliott.

There is a monument honoring Stewart and Screven in the center of the cemetery.
