Services initially comprised trains to the junction at Dubton, with some continuing through to Brechin.
When the Montrose and Bervie Railway opened on 1 November 1865, its trains were initially worked by the Scottish North Eastern Railway and used this station.
It was closed to passengers on 30 April 1934 and trains from Dubton ran into the former North British Railway station in Montrose.
The area of the extensive sidings at this station has now been built on with houses.
The station building remains as a retirement home but its extensive trainshed has been removed and replaced with a tasteful canopy.
