By 1983, Missouri Methodist Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital had agreed to combine into a single organization and form Heartland Health Affiliates.

[4][9] In May 2012, the hospital joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network, expanding its healthcare partnerships.

[10] In June of that same year, the Heartland Health System announced it would begin the transition to a new name: Mosaic Life Care.

[13] The University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine opened a satellite campus located at the hospital in January 2021.
