Moses Kunitz

Moses Kunitz (December 19, 1887 – April 20, 1978) was a Russian-American biochemist who spent most of his career at Rockefeller University.

He was raised and educated there until his move to the United States, where he settled in New York City in 1909 and became an American citizen in 1915.

Kunitz began work as a technical assistant in Jacques Loeb's laboratory at Rockefeller University in 1913 and continued there throughout his graduate years.

After Loeb died in 1924, John H. Northrop succeeded him and retained Kunitz' position; the two would collaborate extensively on experiments involving protein crystallization for much of their remaining careers.

He then assumed professor emeritus status but continued to work regularly in the laboratory until eventually retiring in 1970.
