Situated west of the Columbia River and Upper Arrow Lake, this peak is visible from the Trans-Canada Highway, Revelstoke, and Revelstoke Mountain Resort ski area.
[5] The first ascent of the mountain was made in 1968 by Bruce Haggerstone and David P.
[2] Based on the Köppen climate classification, Mount Tilley is located in a subarctic climate zone with cold, snowy winters, and mild summers.
[6] Winter temperatures can drop below −20 °C with wind chill factors below −30 °C.
Despite the modest elevation, the climate supports a small pocket glacier on the northeast face.
