Nix is an unincorporated community in southwestern Lampasas County, Texas, United States.
The community was settled in the early 1880s on the stagecoach and mail route that ran west from Lampasas.
In 1883, David Coterell started a blacksmith shop, and Elizabeth Wallace opened a general store.
Wallace was the first postmistress when she opened a post office in her store.
Considerable interest arose in drilling for gas and oil in the area during the 1920s and 1930s, though Nix was the site of the county's only dry test well.
