North Gate of Xiong Town

The North Gate of Xiong Town or Syongjhen North Gate (traditional Chinese: 雄鎮北門; simplified Chinese: 雄镇北门; pinyin: Xióng Zhèn Běimén) is a historical gate in Gushan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The area was built in 1875 by the Chinese military of the Qing dynasty as a fort to protect the Takao Harbor.

During the Japanese occupation the cannons were removed, with only arc-shaped gun mounts remaining.

In 2022, the damaged buildings were repaired by the Kaohsiung cultural department and re-opened to the public.

The gate is accessible within walking distance west of Sizihwan Station of Kaohsiung MRT.
