Osvalinda Alves Pereira ( 1968 Trairão – 12 April 2024 ), was a Brazilian environmental activist and founder of the Areia II Women's Association, which developed sustainable organic agriculture.
[1] In 2020, she received the Edelstam Award in recognition of her work in defending the Amazonas.
She alerted federal authorities about illegal deforestation in the Areia area.
[7] Deforestation is occurring in these areas, and armed men have been scaring locals.
[2] Due to the threats she has received since 2012, which intensified since 2018, she and her family had to move and remain in hiding in Brazil.
