[5] As a response to the Israel–Hamas war, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed his deepest condolences to the government and people of Israel, and condemned Hamas' attack.
[7] Deputy foreign affairs minister Jakkapong Sangmanee later said that the country's position was "one of neutrality" and that the government favoured "a solution that would allow Palestine and Israel to coexist.
"[8] During the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, 44 Thai citizens were killed, and 31 were kidnapped into the Gaza Strip, 2 of which died in captivity.
[10] On 27 October 2023, Thailand was one of 121 countries to vote in favor of a General Assembly resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire to the fighting between Israel and Gaza.
In addition to expressing satisfaction with the connection, which has been in place for more than 12 years, both parties stated that they are willing to work toward furthering it in any areas where there may be mutual interest, especially in the promotion of trade and tourism.
