Programs in the past have included hands-on work experience, tours, and general information on papermaking.

[3] The Paper Discovery Center opened in February 2005.

[1] It was first conceived in 1999 as part of the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame, Inc.[4] The Kimberly-Clark Corporation donated its former Atlas Mill on the Fox River in Appleton to house the center.

In November 2024, the center announced it would be closing and selling the property.

It also announced plans to donate some assets to the Appleton Children's Museum[5]
