Parafield railway station is located on the Gawler line.
In 1982, the station was rebuilt at the same time as standardisation of the mainline from Adelaide to Port Pirie.
The project included the construction of a new park-and-ride facility on the eastern side of the station.
[2][3] To the west of the station lies the Australian Rail Track Corporation standard gauge line to Crystal Brook.
It is a designated high-frequency station, with trains scheduled every 15 minutes on weekdays, between 7:30am and 6:30pm.
