Petit lac Batiscan is located 1.7 kilometres (1.1 mi) southeast of the course of the head zone of the rivière à Pierre which generally flows towards the southwest to flow into the Batiscan River.

The toponym "Petit lac Batiscan" was formalized on December 5, 1968, by the Commission de toponymie du Québec.
