[1] This species was described in 1880 by Octavius Pickard-Cambridge from female specimens.
[2][3] The holotype is stored in Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
[2] The male is recorded at 2.11mm in length whereas the female is 2.12mm.
[3] This species is widespread throughout New Zealand, including on Chatham Island.
[3] Under the New Zealand Threat Classification System, this species is listed as "Not Threatened".
