Pinar Karaca-Mandic is an American economist who is C. Arthur Williams Jr.
Professor in Healthcare Risk Management and Academic Director of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management[1] and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
[2] She was previously on the faculty of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and an economist for the RAND Corporation.
[3] Her research before 2020 focused on the adaptation of medical technology and health insurance markets.
[4] This team has documented racial disparities in COVID-19 hospitalizations,[5] as well as the relationship between the number of hospital beds occupied by COVID-19 patients and the death rate from COVID-19.
