Pioneer, Louisiana

Pioneer is a village in West Carroll Parish, Louisiana, United States.

Very little is known on the early history of the town, but it is likely the population increased due to steamboat traffic on Bayou Macon in the 1850s.

32.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

About 41.5% of families and 50.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 58.8% of those under the age of eighteen and 23.7% of those 65 or over.
