The town covers an area of 29.50 square kilometres (11.39 sq mi) with a population of 78,057 as of the 2011 census.

It also houses Pirojpur Cricket Stadium which is also used as a helipad for landing important people of Bangladesh.

At the time of the 2011 census, Pirojpur had 13,646 households and a population of 60,056.

Pirojpur has a sex ratio of 999 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 77.81%.
