Pobbathiri Township

The township was designated as one of the original townships constituting the new capital region of Naypyidaw on 26 November 2008 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA).

[1] Pobbathiri is derived from Pali pubbāsiri, and literally means "splendor of the east.

"[2] The 2014 Myanmar Census reported that Pobbathiri Township had a population of 116,491.

[3] The census reported that the median age was 26.0 years, and 97 males per 100 females.
