[1] The society celebrates an annual Poetry Day on October 15, first proclaimed in 1947 by Governor Beauford Jester.
Activities on this date include workshops, contests and poetry readings.
The society also operates a podcast[2] and observes Poetry Day in April.
[3] PST holds a Summer Conference in July, including three days of programs, and has hosted the Federation of State Poetry Societies Annual Convention five times since affiliating in 1965.
Awards for children's poetry are presented at a Student Festival held annually in May.
