The administrative center of the district was the town of Pohrebyshche.
[4] Pohrebyshche Raion was situated on the Podillian forest-steppe area in the north-eastern part of Vinnytsia Oblast.
The Ros River finds its source in the village of Ordyntsi, formerly in Pohrebyshche Raion.
Pohrebyshche Raion was formed on March 7, 1923 as a part of Kiev Governorate, but on February 27, 1932, it was included in the newly formed Vinnytsia Oblast.
The biggest change was in 1963, when Plyskiv Raion was dissolved.
