Ponduri Venkata Ramana Rao

He joined the Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad as a lecturer in Bacteriology in 1953 and was promoted to Professor in 1957.

During his 14 years of service in medical college he organized the department of Microbiology and developed into a full-fledged postgraduate center with comprehensive research facilities.

He served as a member of 12 National and International Scientific Associations and was elected as Fellow of American Public Health Association for his work in the field of public health.

He was instrumental in developing 50 acres (200,000 m2) of land at Nacharam into premier vaccine unit.
