Ponyrovsky District (Russian: Поныро́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the twenty-eight in Kursk Oblast, Russia.
The area of the district is 690 square kilometers (270 sq mi).
[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Ponyri.
[7] Ponyrovsky District is located in the north central region of Kursk Oblast, on the border with Oryol Oblast.
The terrain is hilly plain on the Orel-Kursk plateau of the Central Russian Upland.
