Prairie River, Saskatchewan

Prairie River is a hamlet in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

The hamlet sits on an inactive Canadian National Railway line that was built and originally operated by the Canadian Northern Railway.

Prairie River was also the junction for the Shaw Logging Railroad, which transported wood for the mills in the area.

Memorable people include Bob Poley, a former CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders player (57).

In the 2021 Canadian census, Prairie River had a population of 70 living in 37 of its 42 total private dwellings, a change of 27.3% from its 2016 population of 55.
