Princess Harbour, Manitoba

[1] Recognized as a community by the Province of Manitoba in 1972 under the Northern Affairs Act, the settlement does not have a political leader but rather it is represented by someone who is called a "contact person".

[2] The Hudson's Bay Company had a house at Rabbit Point through the mid to late 1800s.

[3] The first mention of settler presence in the area began in 1890, and funeral and baptism records note the names of local families from then until present day.

[1] A coal oil fueled harbour light was maintained by the community as regulated by the government at the time.

[1] The name was not officially changed to Princess Harbour until 1952, when the community got its own post office.
