Produce Marketing Association

The company focuses on the following member needs: Demand Creation, Global Connections, Science & Technology, Industry Talent and Sustainability.

This is when PMA created three operating divisions to address increasing member demand for services: retailer, producer, and distributor.

The Produce Electronic Identification Board (PEIB) was created by PMA in 1987 to administer standardized Price Look-Up (PLU) codes.

The following year, in 1988, PMA joined together with United Fresh & Vegetable Association to establish the Center for Produce Quality.

By taking advantage of new communications technologies to connect to members worldwide, the association could now provide 24-hour access to information and create a virtual trade show.
