Protosticta sanguinostigma,[2][3] the red spot reedtail,[4][3] is a damselfly species in the family Platystictidae.

[1][5] It is a large slender damselfly with eyes bottle-green above and pale green below separated by an equatorial band of reddish-brown.

Its thorax is glossy bronze-black on dorsum and pale blue on the sides.

Female is similar to the male; but much shorter and stouter built.

However, recent studies show that populations do exist in other places in South India.
