Pseudohelice annamalai

Pseudohelice annamalai is a species of crab in the family Varunidae, which is reported from the Indian Ocean at the mangroves of Parangipettai near the Vellar River estuary in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu.

[1] Pseudohelice annamalai is distinguished from other species of the genus by having a dark purple to dark grey colour, with irregular light brown, yellowish brown, or white patches on the posterior carapace.

It grows a maximum width of up to 20 mm.

The species inhabits muddy banks of mangroves.

Their burrows are located near the pneumatophores of Avicennia mangroves.
