[citation needed] He was later the state's Minister of Industries in the Janata Party government led by Ram Naresh Yadav in 1977.

In the year 1956 Bhartiya Jansangh was appointed the organization minister and was given the charge of ten districts of the central part of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow.

Elected as a distinguished member in the year 1960, he was appointed the leader of the Jana Sangh in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.

He has done many notable works for the development of Lucknow city on the strength of his talent, strong will and administrative ability.

In the Joint Legislature Party Government of Shri Charan Singh in April, 1967, he was entrusted with the responsibility of important departments like Education, Technical Education, Harijan and Social Welfare, Cultural Work and Research, Transport and Tourism from 10 December 1967.

On 11 March 1998, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Uttar Pradesh was given the important responsibility of cabinet level post.
