The city was established by the wool poddar traders of the Churu District, which was very prestigious and very rich.
Who allotted them the land of Ramgarh Shekhawati and Poddar made it prestigious and rich by building havelis in the city and they painted the havelis from the German imported colours.
The colours used are of very good quality that their lustre have not been even lasted after about 230+ years.

Ramgarh Shekhawati railway station[3] is located on the eastern part of the town.
