She is a professor of statistics in the Jack Baskin School of Engineering of the University of California, Santa Cruz,[1] and has been elected president of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis for the 2019 term.

[3] Prado was born on 24 April 1970, in Caracas, and graduated from Simón Bolívar University in 1993.
Her dissertation, Latent Structure in Non-Stationary Time Series, was supervised by Mike West.
[4][5] After completing her Ph.D. she returned to Simón Bolívar University as a faculty member before moving to Santa Cruz.
