The reservoir is part of Tallinn water supply system and is connected to Jägala, Pirita rivers via canals.

Water flows from Soodla to Raudoja Reservoir through a 704 m (2,310 ft) long 1,000 mm (39 in) diameter steel pipe.

The area of the reservoir is 8.2 ha (20 acres) and the average depth is 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in).
