Ron Fimrite

Ron Fimrite (January 6, 1931 – April 30, 2010) was an American humorist, historian, sportswriter and author who was best known for his writing for Sports Illustrated.

[1] Fimrite began his career at the Berkeley Gazette in 1955, moving to the San Francisco Chronicle.

He was nicknamed "The Sporting Tiger" and was part of a famous circle of San Francisco Chronicle columnists that included Herb Caen, Art Hoppe, Stanton Delaplane and Charles McCabe.
