Roy Victor Peel (July 26, 1896 – 31 August 1978) was a political scientist and academic, and the director of the United States Census Bureau from 1950 to 1953.
[1] While an assistant professor of government at New York University, Peel researched and wrote extensively, publishing several articles and books.
[2] In 1935, Peel began a nearly two-year research expedition to Scandinavia, planning to survey public administration in those countries.
[3] During World War II, Peel worked for the government in a confidential civilian capacity.
He was appointed the chair of the political science department at the University of Utah in 1953, and in 1961 he was hired at California Lutheran College.
