This formation is a large crater of the form called a walled plain.

To the northwest is a short chain of craters that forms a valley penetrating the rim.

The interior floor of the crater is relatively level with a central peak formation located to the west of the midpoint.

There is also a small crater to the south of the midpoint, and the surface is marked by many tiny craterlets.

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Rozhdestvenskiy.
