It is endemic to the eastern slopes of Andes in central and southern Peru and northern Bolivia.
[4][2] The tips of the digits are yellowish green, and margin of the upper lip is greenish white.
Dorsal skin is smooth but bears many minute, white spicules, which have given the species its specific name spiculata.
[2] Its natural habitats are montane primary and secondary tropical forest at elevations of 1,200–1,700 m (3,900–5,600 ft) above sea level.
