It is operated by the private transportation company Hankyu Railway.

Sakurai Station is served by the Hankyu Minoo Line, and is located 1.6 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Ishibashi handai-mae.

The station consists of two opposed side platforms connected by an underground passage.

In fiscal 2019, the station was used by an average of 11,343 passengers daily[1] The area around the station is lined with shops, supermarkets, convenience stores, and condominiums, and the Sakuragaoka area to the northwest of the station is a quiet residential area.
